Kwantlen Polytechnic University, was formed by the British Columbia government in 1981 and has five campuses in the province’s Metro Vancouver region. KPU offers bachelor’s degrees, associate degrees, diplomas, certificates, and citations in more than 120 programs. On October 24, 2008, KPU joined the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC). The International Association of Universities (IAU), Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan), Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE), and Canadian University Press are all affiliated with KPU (CUP). The school is primarily a polytechnic university for undergraduates, but it also serves as a vocational school for skilled trades apprenticeships. Diplomas in vocational education are available for skilled technicians and individuals in support positions in fields like engineering, accounting, business administration, nursing, medicine, architecture, and criminology. Almost 20,000 students attend KPU’s Surrey, Richmond, Langley, Cloverdale, and Civic Plaza campuses each year. Kwantlen Polytechnic University now provides a variety of credentials, many of which are one-of-a-kind, to suit the changing demands of regional and worldwide job markets.
