Capilano University

In 1968, Capilano University (then a community college) was established. They moved to North Vancouver in 1973 and established a permanent facility. CapU Lonsdale launched in 2020, four years after they built kálax-ay the Sunshine Coast campus in Sechelt. With experiences and engagement opportunities, Capilano University helps learners, employees, and communities realize their passion and potential. They are a vibrant and responsible center of thought and activity that encourages creativity, emphasizes health and well-being, and makes a good impact on people and the environment.

The Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills and Training of the Government of British Columbia has authorized Capilano University’s degree programs. The University Act of British Columbia governs the university’s degree-granting authority. Capilano University has five faculties that provide 97 programs: Arts & Sciences, Business & Professional Studies, Education, Health & Human Development, Fine & Applied Arts, and Global & Community Studies.

CapU’s main campus is in North Vancouver, with kálax-ay the Sunshine Coast campus located in Sechelt and CapU Lonsdale, an extension of our main campus, operating in the Lower Lonsdale neighbourhood of North Vancouver.
