- Why Great Plains
The merging of Cypress Hills Regional College and Prairie West Regional College in 2008 resulted in the formation of Great Plains College. Great Plains College is a Saskatchewan regional college that offers post-secondary education in the province’s western region. It currently offers certificate, diploma, and degree programs at the post-secondary level, as well as university programming, skills and safety training, adult basic education, and English language training. In collaboration with the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Regina, the College also offers a limited number of university courses.
The institution is dedicated to serving the needs of western Saskatchewan’s students, companies, and communities. They’re striving to make leaders, careers, relationships, and communities stronger. Swift Current, Warman, and Kindersley campuses, as well as Maple Creek, Biggar, and Rosetown program centers, make up Great Plains College. Swift Current Campus is home to Saskatchewan’s first indoor fall protection and rig rescue tower, SunDogs Athletics, Saskatchewan’s only competitive athletics program, and a recently completed $13.5 million restoration and expansion.
