Applications for 190 and 491 visa are temporary closed.

Applications for Northern Territory Government nomination under the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa subclass 491 and Skilled Nominated visa subclass 190 will close on 16 November 2019 and re-open on Monday 9 December 2019.

From 9 December a fee of AUD 300 (plus GST where applicable) will be charged for subclass 190 and subclass 491 nomination applications. This fee is non-refundable. You will be charged an application fee for each future application you submit. The application fee must be paid online at the time of the application submission.

Changes in 
Tasmania

Closure of Category 3 – Overseas Applicant (Job Offer) and updated nomination requirement for 491 visa.

Tasmania has announced on the website the closure of Category 3 applications in 190 visa. All the applications received after 15 Nov 2019; 11:59 pm in Category 3 – Overseas applicant (Job Offer) will not be processed.

All the nomination criteria for the 491 visa are similar to the that of 489 visa. One more condition will be taken into account for the selecting the applicants while nominating them:

The likelihood of you obtaining a personal income that would meet the minimum taxable income requirement for the subclass 191 Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) visa (currently AU$53,900 per year for at least 3 years in the next 5 years).

VIC - 491 
visa

New nomination requirements for 491 visa.

VIC has published new nomination requirements for the 491 visa. Following is the summary of eligibility requirements:

Age: less then 45 years
English Proficiency: All applicants must have an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of at least six in each band score or equivalent.
Occupation: It must be listed on the Department’s website: Link
Finances: as listed on VIC website
Offer of employment: All applicants who wish to apply for Victorian nomination for the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) (subclass 491) visa must provide evidence of a current offer of employment in a position located in a designated regional area of Victoria (as defined by the Department of Home Affairs).
Positive skills assessment: in your nominated occupation.
CV: Your updated CV

Applications for the 491 visa nominations open in VIC from 18 Nov 2019; 0900. There is No Fees for lodging the VIC nomination application.

BSMQ has announced that their skilled migration program is now open (as of 25 November 2019) and applicants can now lodge the EOI(s) for 190 and 491 visa. Few occupations have been removed from the QSOL. Please check the list carefully before you lodge the EOI.

BSMQ subclass 190 closure announced!

The Queensland State Nomination Skilled Program from 26 November 2019 (from 1:30 pm AEST) is NOW CLOSED for Skilled Nominated (Permanent) Visa (Subclass 190). EOIs submitted after this date will not be picked.

The Queensland State Nomination Program is REMAINS OPEN for: Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491)

Before submitting an EOI, please review the BSMQ criteria relevant to your circumstances to confirm eligibility:

Please ensure you have all documents ready to upload prior to submitting an EOI.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for Queensland nomination, you must meet both Australian Department of Home Affairs (HA) criteria and Business and Skilled Migration Queensland (BSMQ) criteria for your chosen visa category.

HA criteria requires you to:

  • have a points test result of 65 or higher, inclusive of state nomination points;
  • have a positive skills assessment in your nominated occupation;
  • be under 45 years of age;
  • meet the minimum English language requirement of COMPETENT, unless a higher level is required by your assessing authority; and
  • submit additional documents if invited to lodge an application for a subclass 190 or subclass 491 visa.

BSMQ criteria requires you to:

  • have an occupation on the QSOL for applicants currently working in Queensland (onshore);
  • provide evidence you have been living in regional Queensland for three months if applying for a 491;
  • provide evidence of full-time employment immediately before applying/lodging (minimum 35 hours per week) in your nominated occupation for the past six months for subclass 190 and three months for subclass 491;
  • satisfy specialisation or other requirements for certain occupations;
  • provide evidence of ongoing full-time employment (minimum 35 hours per week) with a Queensland employer registered in Australia for a further 12 months; and
  • commit to living and working in Queensland for two years from visa grant for the subclass 190 and three years from visa grant for the subclass 491.

  • commit to living and working in Queensland from the date that you arrive in Queensland to live permanently.

Please note: if you are an overseas PhD graduate, you may be eligible for a work experience requirement waiver if you have a minimum 12 month job offer with a Queensland employer registered in Australia. The job offer must be related to your occupation, and evidence is required showing acceptance of the offer.

For Queensland Master Graduates, BSMQ criteria requires you to:

  • have an occupation on the QSOL for Queensland Masters Graduates;
  • have completed 100% of your Masters degree at a Queensland-based institution and graduated in the last two years (this qualification must be related to your nominated occupation);
  • satisfy specialisation or other requirements for certain occupations;
  • provide evidence of current full-time employment immediately before applying (minimum 35 hours per week) with a Queensland employer registered in Australia in your nominated occupation (or a closely related occupation); and
  • provide evidence of ongoing full-time employment for a minimum of 12 months immediately before applying (minimum 35 hours per week) with a Queensland employer registered in Australia in your nominated occupation (or a closely related occupation).

If you are applying for the 491 you must provide evidence you have been working for a regional employer and living in a regional area immediately before applying.

For Queensland PhD Graduates, BSMQ criteria requires you to:
  • have an occupation on HA’s combined current list of eligible skilled occupations;
  • have completed 100% of your PhD at a Queensland-based institution and graduated in the last two years (this qualification must be related to your nominated occupation); and
  • a job offer is not required unless otherwise stated.
  • Please note the exception for the occupation of University Lecturer. PhD applicants applying under the occupation of University Lecturer (ANZSCO code 242111), must meet working in Queensland criteria including having been employed for six months in their nominated occupation and have continual ongoing employment for at least 12 months
