Ontario Tech University

The University of Ontario Institute of Technology, or Ontario Tech, is a public research university in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. The University of Ontario Institute of Technology was established in 2002 as a result of the Ontario government’s passage of the University of Ontario Institute of Technology Act, 2002. Within 15 years of its creation, Ontario Tech had established a reputation for engineering and computer science, ranked third in engineering and fourth in all computer science programs in Ontario.

Graduate and post-graduate programs, as well as possibilities for research, are available at Ontario Tech. In September 2003, there were 947 pupils enrolled, and by the 2007–2008 academic year, there were almost 5,000. Today, there are approximately 10,000 students enrolled in the program. The Faculty of Business and Information Technology (FBIT), the Faculty of Energy Systems and Nuclear Science (FESNS), the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science (FEAS), the Faculty of Science (FS), the Faculty of Health Science (FHS), the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSSH), the Faculty of Education (FE), and the Faculty of Graduate Studies are the seven faculties that make up Ontario Tech.

Ontario Tech University was ranked tenth in the predominantly undergraduate university category and 32nd in national reputation in Maclean’s 2021 ranking of Canadian universities. Several international post-secondary school rankings have included Ontario Tech University. The university was ranked 801–900 in the globe in the Academic Ranking of World Universities for 2020. The Ontario Tech Student Union represents the students of Ontario Tech (OTSU). Students at all of Ontario Tech’s campuses benefit from this organization’s advocacy and student services.
