Western University Canada

The University of Western Ontario (UWO) is a public research university in London, Ontario, near the Quebec City–Windsor Corridor’s southwestern terminus. The Thames River bisects the eastern portion of the campus, which is flanked by residential neighborhoods. Western Road, which runs north to south, is the university’s main transportation route. It is branded as Western University and is usually shortened to Western. Bishop Isaac Hellmuth of the Anglican Diocese of Huron established the Western University in London, Ontario on March 7, 1878.

Western had four faculties when it was founded: Arts, Divinity, Law, and Medicine. The university was renamed The University of Western Ontario in 1923 after the Kingsmill family sold the existing site in 1916. Since that first class graduated in 1883, the university has evolved into a vibrant learning center. Western University’s 12 faculties and three affiliated university sites offer over 400 specializations, majors, and minors to its 36,000+ students.

Western is a member of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada and a publicly financed research institution. The majority of the school’s enrolment is made up of full-time, part-time, and concurrent education students, with 30,665 full-time, part-time, and concurrent education students.
